Make up basics (2)

This article is not going to teach how to wear make, as much as it can help you decide exactly what are the makeup products you "MUST HAVE".

P.S. The model is wearing fake lashes
1) Mascara:
The 1st makeup product every girl must have is the "MASCARA". I don't know a woman who doesn't have a mascara in here handbag all the time. A Good mascara should have 2 qualities:

a- Doesn't smudge; smudging mean that you would wear it, and once your eyelids starts to get oily or sweaty, its starts forming a blade shade around your eye, leaving you look like panda.
b- Doesn't clump: clumping means that when you start applying it to your eyelids its sticks them together instead of fanning them to give them more volume. sometimes clumping depends on the mascara brush itself, so here is a tip a friend told me, if you have a favorite mascara brush, don't throw it away, leave it and use it with any mascara you buy. So you would have the best of the two worlds ^_^

Of course there are others qualities that people would like to find on the mascara ,but those could vary from a woman to the other, some would want more length other would want volume, other like me need both !!
I wouldn't recommend a brand really,  as I said, it really depends on your needs, and personal comfort. But what I use now, and really works for me is lancome doll eyes mascara . Although I wouldn't buy it again, I can't say its my favorite.

How to apply mascara: every one have there own way to do that, but the best way to get the most out of your mascara is start from the routes of the eyelashes and while you move your hand forward also move it to the light and right to fan the lashes and separate them, so you end up with LOTS of lashes, then start building up layers until achieve the required thickness you want.

2) Eye shadows:

If your buying makeup from scratch, then you can't just go buy every eye shadow colour there is , as it would cost you a fortune !!! especially if you are buying designer makeup ,or any high quality products in order to be sure that it has enough pigment and wouldn't give you an allergic reaction plus that designer brands don't make big palates with lots of colour varieties, usually they make them in 2 shades per palate.

Basically eye shadows can be divided into basic colours that you would use alot, and colours that are more as accessory, as it wouldn't be used as much, only on occasions.

The basic colour eye shadow palate should have neutral colours ranging from white, beige, golden beige, oxidized gold, light rose, medium brown, dark brown ,black and grey...i.e most shades of neutral colours, as those you would basically use almost every time you wear makeup

Any other colours like red ,orange, purple, yellow...etc you can just buy when ever you feel like you need them.

Some people feel the need to buy an eye shadow primer, to make the colours stay longer, but for me i just use any matte eyeshadow neutral as a base to cover the whole area, the best colour is the "Beige" , then i start applying the shades that I am going to wear as usual.

As for powder vs. cream, actually each have there uses, cream eyeshadow are more suitable for the day as they are light pigmented and don't stay as much, while powder is more for the night. However, if your eyelids are the type that get oily, I wouldn't recommend the cream for you, it would make fine lines and would last for an a hour.

3) Eyeliners:

Here is the product that we all love and most can't use the way they dream it would look like ^_^
Eyeliners give such a dramatic sexy look, but most are very difficult to apply.
Eyeliners can be liquid, solid or cream. The most difficult to use is the liquid and it gives the boldest result. here is photo you give you illustration to a really simple way how to apply the perfect eyeliner every time ^_^

This is Imogen, of Foxy locks extensions.

Another trick is to draw the line you want with the solid Khol eyeliner and once you get it perfect, you can repeat over it with the liquid eye liner. plus it makes it stay longer.
If you are going out at day time then I would recommend using the solid khol pencil , which can also be used inside the eyelid , as it gives less of an intense dramatic look, but if you have oily eyelids like me, and when you use khol inside your eyes you end up having it under your eyes like panda, then I'd recommend a water proof eyeliner, the one i use and really LOVE is chanel STYLO YEUX waterproof eyeliner . Its absolutely amazing.

Another MUST HAVE eyeliner, at least for me is the white or light beige eyeliner to wear inside the eye, which is very important especially for the small eye like mine. you can't wear any dark shade on the lower lid without using a light colour inside your eyes, especially if you have small eyes, otherwise your eyes would look like they were buried inside your skull. I personally use Le crayon khol by chanel

4) Blusher:

Of course the MUST HAVE shade is the pink,The darker skin tone you have the darker the shade of the blusher you need to make your cheeks pop. So, if you have light skin tone, baby pink would be perfect, and so on.

The other shade that can be used alot, is the peace-orange shade, the same rule of the skin apply. This shade is more suitable for the neutral mornings makeup, or when your wearing any earthy look colours makeup.

As for powder vs. cream, i prefer cream blusher for the morning as it easy to blend over your sunscreen and looks more natural. But if you only have powder that is absolutely fine ^_^
