1st I'm going to talk about the Foundation, when it come to picking your foundation shade, you have to put something in mind, "Foundation isn't suppose to give a lighter complexion, its supposed to give you a even complexion". This is rule no. 1. So, don't go buy a much lighter foundation than your real shade, it will make you look fake and a little grey :)
How to buy your foundation? Make up products and especially foundation, isn't something you buy in a hurry, its a special occasion that take a few steps ahead plan.
1st you need to go to the beauty shop in the morning, you need to see how the foundation looks in the day light, if its a big fancy beauty store there will be a lot of lightening so this will make for the day light.
2nd, you need to go without any makeup on, as u have to test the foundation on your face not your hand, as your is probably darker than your face, as it gets to much direct sunlight than your face and doesn't get any sun block ^_^
Once you find the closest foundation to your shade, that should be only a degree lighter, so it would make your skin glow, then that's your foundation ^_^
If you you wear foundation as a routine to work or uni, i recommend buying a foundation with SPF protection ^_^
P.S be aware that some foundations of lower quality oxidizes after wearing it, so its start with a shade and ends with a whole different one, so make sure your buy a foundation of a good quality.
2nd I'm going to talk about the powder, once you have picked your foundation shade it should pretty easy to pick the powder as they come in pairs :D, meaning it should be the same shade as your foundation, which is I think is old news that everybody knows. The thing that not everybody is aware of, that its not necessarily should be worn over foundation. Actually powders could be worn alone when you want a more natural lighter looks and also control your skin from getting oily. Wearing powder over foundation is quite a heavy look that is more suitable for night time.
3rd is the concealer, Concealer might be the 1st most popular makeup product used in Egypt, but also the majority use it in the wrong way. they all go for the lightest shade which make them look weird. Actually concealer should be a shade or maximum 2 lighter than your foundation, and the second thing that it should only be used under the eyes not on the upper eyelid as most most people do. On your upper eyelid you should wear foundation not concealer. then it should be sealed with powder in order not to melt and form thin lines under your eyes.
4th is the primer, Here i mean the Face Primer, actually when i started using primers ,I noticed that they do make a difference and help my makeup stay longer, they should be used after the moisturizer and before foundation.
5th is moisturizing. I should have started with this, but because its not something you should get tips on how to buy it, I just wrote it last.
YOU HAVE TO MOISTURIZE YOUR FACE BEFORE MAKE UP, i can'ts stress this enough. It doesn't matter if you even have oily skin, just pick a very light non oily face cream, i personally recommend "johnson's 24 hours soft cream"
This is the lightest, softest , fastest absorbed cream I've ever used. Seriously, I used to hate creams before this, as I have oily skin and whenever I used one, it would always stay on my face and never gets absorbed . But this one is absolute heaven.
So, as i was saying, you always have to moisturize your face, even if you are like me and hate to wear makeup in the morning, your have to moisturize before applying sunblock. It will keep your skin young and smooth.
6th is SPF protection, u have to either wear a high SPF sunblock when you go out in the morning or wear a foundation that has SPF protection. Especially if you live in Egypt, the sun is very strong and can damage your skin quite badly. I personally use http://www.bioderma.com/en/the-products/what-s-new/product/action/267.html
