THE ONE WITH THE EXCPECTATIONS WHEN YOU ARE EXPECTING - PART 3

I apologize for not blogging for a while but I just gave birth (YES finally) a week ago (and YES I have a very cute labour story for you coming soon on the blog) and life with a newborn can be pretty hectic.

So back to our topic, I am so sorry to tell you that the next 3 month are the worst you are ever gonna experience :D , for me they were living hell. On the other hand once I have seen my baby girl popped into my arms, it was SO worth it. :)

MONTH 7:

At this point your belly starts to get heavier and more prominent, I mean you look definitely pregnant. I can't count the no. of time I burnt my PJs while cooking on the stove because my belly is right there and there is no way around it :D. And also it starts to get really boring and you begin counting the days when it gonna be over.
Most people can start developing swollen feet at this stage, but the good news is it can be controlled by compression stockings, I used scholl compression stocking , they did the job pretty well and I was able to fit into my shoes for a couple more months. I got the thigh length ones and they did a pretty good job until my oedema became inevitable in the last 4 weeks.
During this period you baby is almost full grown and can survive outside the womb, his basic job right now is just to get bigger, as a result it becomes harder for you to breath.

MONTH 8:

Getting bigger and bigger are we?? Well, yes and its a good idea to start using stretch marks creams if haven't yet started cause your belly can pop out any second and your skin might reach its limits of stretching. Any moisturiser will do the job really, as while stretch marks are highly dependant on the genes, still can be prevented to a great extent by two things: one is slow weight gain, and two moisturisingUnfortunately, for some women its inevitable if their mums had them. These tips can help minimize them still.
Sleep can become a far away dream starting at this point especially if you suffer from SPD like I did.
maternity pillow

For most preggos the best sleeping position is on their left side with a pillow tugged in between their legs and another on supporting their bellies, cause its said that the blood flow to the placenta is best when you lie on your left side. Sadly for me that was a nightmare cause it made my SPD worse as it distorted the aligning of the pubic joint and worsens the pain that was unbearable to begin with (btw I am still suffering from SPD but to a milder degree and still side sleeping makes it worse).
to sum it up
The most comfortable position for my SPD was to sleep on my back, but of course that was impossible as A) My belly would compress on my great vessels giving me the feeling of increased pressure in my neck and if feels like my neck is gonna pop. B) My belly makes it almost impossible to breath. C) Its not advised for the baby as this compresses the blood flow to the placenta.

In conclusion, I could only sleep in the semi-sitting position which meant I hardly slept.

MONTH 9:

AAAAh the horror !!
Honestly, this was the worst month of my entire pregnancy and probably my entire life.
At this month all the sudden I puffed up like a balloon. My entire leg was oedematous and no compression stocking would control it. They were so swollen that I couldn't tell my knees form my chin from my ankles :D. At some point they used to kill from the pain. My fingers swelled up like sausage that my wedding band got stuck and ahmed spent half an hour trying to get it out and I almost lost my finger. The swelling of my hands caused me to suffer from carpel tunnel syndrome and my finger joints hurt so bad when moving them and I could hardly open water bottles.
My whole body was puffy to be honest, including my face.
At this month my face got noticeably darker although I have hardly seen the sun through out my pregnancy, surprise surprise this is called Chloasma of pregnancy

The good news that my face looked much lighter and it was almost gone a week after I gave birth. The swelling on the other hand is noticeably better but still not completely gone YET !!
Scared yet :D??.
Well, when I saw my baby's face it was all worth it :)

The only upside to the pregnancy that my hair got thicker and softer than ever, and it grew like crazy. I mean seriously, I had a pixie hair cut when i was 5 month pregnant and it grew back to shoulder length by the end of it !! (the sunny side PEOPLE). And I didn't have to queue in shops and got offered seat in buses and tubes :D.

Ultimately, pregnancy is no picnic, mine to be specific wasn't at all an easy one. I didn't enjoy being pregnant for one second, and if there was an easier way to have a baby I would defiantly go for it, but unfortunately there isn't.

However, for my baby, I would do it all over again. :)

                                                                                   THE END xxx
